Wonolo

Let’s meet Gabe!

Gabe joined Wonolo in 2016 and is a Mid-Market Account Executive for the Northern California region from South San Francisco to San Jose. His role includes finding partners for Wonolo, introducing and onboarding them to the Wonolo solution, and growing these partnerships to fulfill employer production needs and dreams. Prior to Wonolo, Gabe was a Multimedia Account Executive at The Santa Cruz Sentinel for eight years.

What are you grateful for today?

I am grateful for the daily health of my family and loved ones, the energy and beauty of life here in the SF Bay Area, and for over two years of forward-moving success on the game-changing, winning Team Wonolo.

When you were in high school, what did you dream of becoming?

Wow, this is when the real answers become uncomfortable: A Rock Star!

What events in your life have led you to your current role/job today?

The specific answer here is a combination of grit, general happenstance (good luck), and the blessing of a handful of key mentors lighting the trail. I still have active mentors inside Wonolo now that keep me moving forward!

When things do not turn out the way you planned, what is the first thing you do?

“If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.” ― Woody Allen

Perhaps its temperament, or long term behavioral training of maintaining constant focus on monthly/quarterly targets, I tend to prefer keeping actual approaches and details kind of loose and then react quickly to optimize as information and insights arise.

When you have to make a difficult decision, what do you lean on?

I do still presume on the mentors I had mentioned, and both loved ones and close friends. I also talk with individuals I believe may have a contrary or dissimilar outlook to my own. I’ve always found this useful for a new or recalibrating perspective. I am blessed to still have the knowing wisdom of both my parents as well as my sister in my life, and I have also found prayer and meditation helpful for the most difficult decisions.

What is one life advice you can give to anyone?

I believe in teaching someone how to fish, so they can always provide for themselves. Everyone has a place at the table to learn a skill, so I would encourage people to take a chance if they want to try something new.

Please finish this sentence: If you really knew me, you would know that ______.

My first introduction to the Wonolo marketplace was as a Wonoloer on the app! When I first moved to San Francisco from Santa Cruz four years ago without a plan (oops!) and no legit professional network, doing 5-star work for Wonolo Requestors quickly introduced me to “the lay of the land.” I gained some initial contacts and friendships, which got me off the freelance work-at-home couch. Just this week, I started a new partnership with a Requestor that used to also be a Wonoloer too. They are excited to give Wonoloers the first opportunity for their customer service roles — this to me is the pay-it-forward, meritocratic magic of the Wonolo solution in action!
